I would like to take a moment and write about TF-CBT. I came across this mode of therapy at my internship site. It is compiled of eight segments that incorporates P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E.:
- Psychoeducation
- Relaxation – stress management
- Affect expression and modulation
- Cognitive coping
- Trauma narrative
- Invivo exposure – cognitive processing
- Conjoint parent-child sessions
- Enhancing safety and development
This is a widely used module in therapy among children and trauma. In relation to my computer applications class, I noticed that even this therapy can include methods of technology. For instance, in my previous post on top ten apps, any one of those applications can be used in session with the client and parent, such as the Calm or Colour Mandala Apps!
The great thing about this type of therapy is that you don’t have to be a licensed professional to learn about it, thanks to an online training overview provided by the developers, click here if you wish to access the site. Disclaimer: this does not mean you can treat children, one still has to me a counseling professional and receive training and certification.
